Riponui Assured of Electric Reticulation
Electricity for the Riponui district now seems assured.
At a recent meeting a deficiency of £2OO in guarantees was revealed. A committee then appointed thoroughly canvassed the district. A further meeting was presided over by Mr F. Elliott this week when it was reported that the deficiency had been reduced to £65. Upon a further appeal being made, those in the room made up the whole of the necessary amount for the guarantees.
A few who had promised to lake additional amounts had not signed up, but it is understood that most have done so since.
On his way to attend a meeting of the North Auckland Power Board today, Mr Elliott said there was every reason to believe that reticulation of the Riponui district would proceed when circumstances allowed.
. .Art. —With a view to stimulating interest in New Zealand art and to provide a visual survey of New Zealand’s achievements in that field during the past century, the National Centennial Art Committee, which was appointed by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr. Parry) has, with the cooperation of provincial art committees, completed organisation for a comprehensive exhibition of both retrospective and complementary work to tour the Dominion in 1940.
