Apple A Day For Twopence A Week
For twopence a week the Tasmanian Government is prepared to give an apple a day to every school child throughout Australia. This proposal has been put forward by the Tasmanian Department of Agriculture for consideration by the Commonwealth. , Apple-growers have to look for new ways of disposing of their fruit, because shipping space for export apples has been considerably restricted. Britain has placed apples low down on the priority list of essential commodities. The Department of Commerce is preparing plans for a campaign to increase the local consumption of apples. Stores at which apple juice will be sold may be one method.
