British Steamer Hits Mine; 13 Of Crew Dead

(Received 3 p.m.) LONDON, November 29. The British steamer Rubislaw (1923 tons), laden with cement, struck a mine off a south-east coastal port ,and sank in two minutes. Thirteen of the crew are dead.' It is stated that firing in the Thames Estuary was not due to enemy action. A broadcast, yesterday from Germany stated that the British tanker James John McGuire was sunk last week off the English east coast, says a British Official Wireless message, but the Admiralty is still silent about the loss.

As already stated in the British press, this tanker of 10,325 tons was not sunk, but was successfully brought to port for repair.
