Welcome Rain In Far North
On Saturday heavy rain, which continued throughout the night, fell at Kaitaia, and will do incalculable good. The ground received a good soaking, and farmers’ troubles, as far as feed for stock is concerned, are at an end for the present, and cannot recur for many weeks.
The rain was no less welcome to farmers than to gardeners. There was scarcely any moisture in the ground, and, had the drought continued much longer, Kaitaia would have been more than ever dependent on imported vegetables, despite the valiant efforts this year to grow as many as possible locally.
