Ten bootmaking linns were named by tin Acting Minister for Supply (Sir Frederick Stewart) in the House of Representatives, when lie alleged that a "deliberate attempt at war profiteering" hod been made in prices quoted for Army boots Sir Frederick announced that he intended to exercise special powers under the National Security Regulations to obtain 100.000 pairs of boots at a price to bo determined by arbitration.
