More Wool Than Expected For Appraisal
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Wool has been pouring into Auckland from all parts of the province in the past few weeks, and the quantity available for appraisement under the Government purchase scheme was much larger than expected. The first appraisal by members of the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association, which commenced on November 18, was completed today, some 23,500 bales having .been valued. Wool was automatically taken over by the Government on appraisement and prepared for shipment. As announced by the Minister for Marketing (Mr Nash) shipping space is available for lifting 19,500 bales from Auckland by December 2. Payment wilt be made to growers on December 12, 14 days after the appraisement, but no range of prices has been issued, and the system of valuation by the appraisers has not been disclosed.
