Rhodes Scholars
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr Murray William Speight, son of Mr H. B. Speight, a barrister and solicitor is one of the two New Zealand Rhodes Scholars chosen for 1939. The other is Mr H. E. Garrett, a student at the Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln. Mr Speight, who is 20 years of age, went to the Auckland Grammar School. After leaving school he attended the Auckland University College, graduating Bachelor of Arts in three years, and becoming senior scholar in Greek in the last examinations.
Mr Speight has represented his college in both hockey and tennis.
