Kaikohe Railway Facilities
• KAIKOHE, This Day. Passenger facilities at the Kaikohe railway station are far from satisfactory, and the General Manager of Railways is to be informed of the position. At Tuesday's meeting of the Kaikohe Chamber of Commerce, Mr E. Berry pointed out the inconvenience caused to passengers arriving in Kaikohe by the -evening train from the south as a result of the lack of adequate loading and unloading facilities. All passengers have to walk to taxis past mail-trucks and servicecars, with the result that extreme care is required so as not to fall over or be struck by the numerous mail bags lying about the platform. It was felt at the meeting that if a road were continued around the rear of the station building to the southern end of the platform, passengers and taxis could use that end, leaving the other free for mails and luggage. On the motion of Mr Berry, it was decided that the General Manager be written to regarding the present position.
