Hardwood For Bridge Timber

Taking advantage of a shipment of hardwood coming to Whangarei from Australia for the North Auckland Electric Power Board, the Whangarei County Council is to secure a direct supply of bridge timber. This decision was made at a meeting of the council today, when the engineer was instructed to secure sufficient hardwood for the county’s requirements for the next six months. The quotation received from Australia was very satisfactory, and it was stated that the greater part of the local bridge timber now available was not of a high standard.
