Kaikohe
Mr and Mrs J. Borrows, of Auckland, were visitors to Kaikohe during the week. Miss M. Evans returned to Kaikohe on Saturday after enjoying g short holiday in Ngaruawahia. Mrs D‘Ewes left on Monday morning' for Wellington, where she will stay for a fortnight. Mrs S. G. Robinson presided over a good attendance at the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild meeting, held in the church hall on Tuesday, when two new members were welcomed. During the- afternoon Mrs Shaw read an interesting missionary letter on Maori work, and arrangements were finalised for the induction service for the new minister (Rev. C. Brierly), to be held on November 30. Plunket Society. Beautiful sunshine attracted a good attendance to the monthly meeting of the Northland branch of the Plunket Society, held at Kaikohe, on Monday. In the absence of the president (Mrs H. F. Guy), the vice-president (Mrs W. Knudson) occupied the chair. A satisfactory financial position was shown in the treasurer’s report. The secretary reported tiro formation at Kerikeri of a sub-branch of the Ohaeawai sub-branch. Nurse Thom’s report was as follows: —Visits to rooms: Adults, 192; babies, 191; older children, 14. New cases, 14. Casas now under supervision; Babies, 235; older children, 39.
