Dry Spell Broken By Light Showers Today

After 13 days without recordable rain, light showers fell in Whangarei today. Pastures were greatly in need of moisture, surfaces having become crusted, while even in paddocks reserved for hay, clovers were wilting. Unless further warm rain falls, the spurt in production which is rapidly overhauling the leeway resulting from an abnormal spring, will again be curtailed. Stock have been improving rapidly. The manner in which they have regained condition after the severest winter for years, speaks well for .the fertility of the North.
