Bullet Hits Car, But Misses Passengers
ISpec'ial to “Northern Advocate’’] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. While a motor car was being driven along a street in Sumner at 9.30 last night, a bullet pierced the windscreen just over the driver’s head, and fell between two women passengers in the rear seat. No one in the car was hurt. The driver was Mr Clifford & Bari rell. of 43, Stafford Street. It was dark when the shot was fired. From the direction of the .23 bullet it seemed to those in the car that it might ha've been fired at the approaching headlights. An unsuccessful search was made by Mr Barrel! and his party for the possible firer of the shot, and the matter was immediately reported to the police at Sumner. In the windscreen of the car, near the top of the windshield wiper, is a small "hole, surrounded by a small patch of starred glass and a slight crack. The bullet was discovered after a search of the back seat, and was handed over to the police.
