Final Gallops For Avondale Horses

[Special to "Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, - This Day. _ Conditions were again perfect this morning for the final gallops at Ellerslie of horses engaged at Avondale. The course proper, on which the poles were 50ft out, was available for fast work, and the best efforts were those of Worton over three furlongs, Bronze Fire, Summary and Beverley over half a mile, and Sebrof over five furlongs. Royal Appellant was also responsible for a good trial over a mile. Bronze Fire opened proceedings by running four furlongs in 50 3-ss, after taking 12 3-5 s for the initial furlong. Silver Quex completed five furlongs in 1.5, her last half-mile being covered in 52 l-ss. British Talent, who had a good deal the better of the weights, was in front of Trevace after traversing five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, the first two taking Royal Appellant’s Good Effort Working lazily, Palmint took 1.9 4-5 for the same distance. Bide-a-Wee finished clear of Royal Son at the conclusion of half a mile in 53sec. Over the same ground, Trilliarch recorded 52 3-5. There was nothing between Fidelis and Every Port at the end of six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. They went fast early in the first three furlongs, recording 39 1-5. Pern had an advantage over Hot Shot at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5. Royal Appellant was responsible for a good effort over a mile, which he completed in 1.46, the first half taking 51 4-5. He was assisted over the last six furlongs by Bright Idea in 1.20 1-5, and there was not much between them at the end. Hitting out-freely, Gay Broney got to the end of six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, the first three taking 39 4-5. The two-year-olds, Rara Avis and Taane Pango reeled off half a mile in 52 1-5. They were on terms at the end. Cintrace Looks Well Cintrace had an advantage over Spinning Wheel after traversing six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, the last three taking 39 1-5. It was a good effort on the part of Cintrace, who looks all the better for his racing at Whangarel. Ivy Willonyx and Royal Huntress were companions over a round, the former finishing well in front, afer running the distance in 2.11 1-5. The last six furlongs took 1.21 and the final half mile 52 2-5. Tea Gong and The Trimmer shaded Caurnie after traversing six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, the first three being covered in 39sec. Mon Acre Best Over Five The best trial over five furlongs went to Mon Acre who was slightly in front of Sebrof after running the distance in 1.3 4-5, The last three were covered in 38 2-5. \ Worton was responsble for the best trial over three furlongs, completing his task in 36 3-5. It . was a good effort. Beverley and Summary came home from the half mile post in 50 4-5. They ran the first furlong in 12 4-5, and there was little between them at the post. Happicoat ran three furlogns in company with Odtaa in 37 3-5. s They went from the six furlong to the threefurlong - post, and Odtaa continued on, but was easing up at the end of six in 1.26 4-5. The hurdler, Bisquit, occupied 53 2-5 for half a mile, and Digger Jim, who went away from a barrier start, completed half a mile in 53 3-5. Barrier Practice. Several horses were given barrier practice at the seven-furlong post. They included Auburn Lad, the Pos-terity-Mirabelle 11. colt, Digger Jim,
Golden Bonnet, Bay Eagle and Water Hound. When they were let go, Digger Jim, Auburn Lad and the Posterity colt began best. Digger Jim was eased up after going a short distance and the other pair ran their first two furlongs in 25 2-ss, three in 38 4-5 s and half a mile in 525. It was a very promising trial, Armacourt and Royal Message ran five furlongs on the tan in 1.6 4-5, the last half-mile being completed in 52 2-ss. Royal Message had a shade the better of it. Beverley Makes No Mistakes. Francis Drake was running on at the end of half a mile in 52 l-ss, and Konneta finished up a useful task by running her last three furlongs in 44 l-ss. Over a similar distance, Gay Bell took 41 2-ss, and Knight of Australia 41 3-ss. Aero King was given pace work on this track. Beverley jumped a couple of pony hurdles safely and. was afterwards sent over four of the bigger ones. He made no mistakes.
