“Few Fools Can Spoil Paradise”

These statements were made by the chairman jof the Kaikohe Chamber of Commerce (Mr H. P. Guy) at the monthly meeting. He was referring to the fact that the public was not allowed in the Maori springs at Ngawha after 6 p.m, A member pointed out that he recently visited the springs shortly after 6 p.m., but was stopped from entering the water. “The trouble lies in the fact that there have, in the past, been innumerable bottle parties at the springs and, as a result, respectable people have to suffer,” Mr Guy said. The chamber felt that it could take no action in the matter. General Business. It was unanimously resolved that Mr C. W. Boswell, M.P., should be written to regarding the sealing of roads in the town area. After emphasising the need for stricter supervision in the typo of houses built just outside the town board area, Mr W, Shaw moved that the Bay County Council be asked to co-operate with the Kaikohe Town Board regarding the type of buildings erected on land which might some day be included in the town area. After a lengthy discussion, the chamber decided to write to Mr Boswell stressing the need for reafforestation on Crown land surrounding Kaikohe.
