According ti an American Institute of Public Opinion survey, only 16 per cent, of the' Americans favour sending the army and navy against cGrmany at present; 44 per cent, want to intervene if Britain and France appear to be losing within the next few months; and 82 per cent, believe the Allies will win without American armed assistance.

Forty-nine per cent, think the war will end within a year.
