Peterson Sisters In Scoring Mood
Tiring and losing heart in the second half, Northern Wairoa ladies lost by 8 goals to 1 against Whangarei on Saturday. For the home team the Peterson sisters were in scoring mood, between them netting all Whangarei’s goals.
Although they played willingly in the first spell, Northern Wairoa did not make the best of their opportunities. The Wairoa backs proved quite effective.
At the interval Whangarei led by 3 goals to 1. With the commencement of the second spell Northern Wairoa made a valiant effort to equalise and. though getting to the circle on several occasions, could not manage to finish off the movements.
Better results might have been obtained had the wings seen more of the ball.
The game ended B—l in Whangarei’s favour, scorers being: Whangarei (P. Peterson 6, E. Peterson 2), Northern Wairoa (A. McKenzie 1). Messrs R. Woolford and F. Izod refereed.
