The finalists in the American men’s singles championship events arc Van Horn and E. L. Riggs. In the remaining quarter-final matches. Van Horn beat Sabin. 4—6, 2—(J, G —4, 7 —5. G—3; J. Hunt, beat McNeill. 6—4, 15—13. B—lo. 4—6, 6—2; and Bromwich boot G. Hunt. 6—.3. 6 — 4, 6 — l. In. the semi-finals. Van Horn, a promising young American, caused a surprise by eliminating Bromwich, 2 —6, 4—6, 6 —2, 6 —4, B—6, and Riggs defeated J. Hunt. 6 —l, 6—2. 4—6. 6—l.

Further results in the ladies’ singles contests were: Miss K. Stammers beat Mrs Fabyan, I— 6, 6—3, 6—3; Miss H. Jacobs beat Miss Stammers, 7—5, 6—o; Miss A. Marble beat Miss Wolfenden. 6—o, 6—l.
