Dairy Production Decline Arrested
The substantial decrease in Northland dairy production recorded at the beginning of the season has been slightly arrested. August production, nevertheless, averaged 25 per cent, less than for the corresponding month of last year. The Hikurangi Dairy Company reports a decline of production of 24.7 per cent, for the month, and 27.3 per cent, for the season, in comparison with the like periods of last year. •The output of the Manuagtapere company’s butter factory was 42 tons for the month of August, this being a decline of 27.86 per cent., while the season’s output shows a decline of 32.8 per cent. The Waipu company records a drop in output of seven tons, producing 22 tons last month as compared with 29 tons of butter for August of last season, while the season’s production is down 10 tons on the same period of
last year. With an output of 44 tons, the Maungaturoto company’s factory shows a decline of 10 tons from the same month of last year, while for the season to date the output is 17 tons 15 cwt. less than for the like period of last year.
The output of the Whangarei factory was 94 tons for last month, as compared with 115 tons for the same month of last year, and for the two months of the season the output is 118 tons, while for the same period of last season the output was 159 tons.
