Whangarei Electricity Bill

Record electricity consumption was reached in Whangarei during the month ended July 21. The electrical engineer, Mr W. J. Dawson, said this in his report to the borough council last night. The watt-hour meter reading for the month was 489.400 units, an increase of 66,890 compared with July, 1938. The peak reading for the month was 1500 k.v.a., an increase of 298 k.v.a., compared with the corresponding month of the previous year. This reading was registered on Monday, 31st, at 5 p.m., and was the highest on record. The units registered for the month also constituted a record.
