“Every man and woman in New Zealand must deplore the tragic conclusion 10 the uncertainty which has brooded over Europe for some time,” said the Hon. A, Hamilton, in a statement issued early this morning. “Britain’s decision had to be.”

Mr Hamilton, on behalf of the National Party, said that any action that the Government took to support the Motherland had the whole-hearted support of every member of that Party.

He said that party politics must be laid aside, so that the people might be united in their determination and their hope to live up to the high traditions established in the past.
