Mangonui Union Indignant Over Shield Treatment

[Special to “Northern Advocate”! KAITAIA, This Day. Indignation that Mangonui did not Brake or Powell Shields was expressed rake or Powell Shields was expressed at a meeting of the Mangonui Rugby Union after the secretary, Mr H. G. Subritzky, had explained that he had received no notification of closing dates for the competition, the first intimation being what he had seen in the Press.

On communicating with the North jff inland secretary, ,Mr Subritzky said he had been informed that nonominations had closed on July 15. However, the draw had been made on July 14, the day before nominations Closed. He had immediately telegraphed challenges for both trophies, but these had not yet been considered by the North Auckland Union. Arrangements were completed for the visit of the Eden Club on August 26, which will mark the first time an Auckland Rugby team has played in Kaitaia. The emergency committee’s recommendation that M. Henry, of Whangape, H. Tatana, of Herekino, and A. Takere, of Awanui, be suspended for the season for fighting and unnecessary roughness on the field, was adopted. Permission was granted M. Yates to select a team to play the visiting Waikato team on Thursday.
