Mr, Rosser’s Ejection Causes Labour Dissension
[Special to “Northern Advocate”} AUCKLAND, This Day. The expulsion of Mr Arthur Rosser for contesting the fast municipal election as an Independent after having been rejected in the ballot for Labour candidates, is reported to have caused disagreement between the Auckland Labour- Representation Committee and the National Executive of the p'arty.
The National Executive, which was appealed to against the expulsion by the Epsom branch of the party, of which Mr Rosser is chairman, has suggested to the Labour Representation Committee that it should modify the penalty by prohibiting Mr Rosser from holding any office in the Labour movement for four years. It is understood that the committee is not disposed to accept the subgestion.
“I was never given the opportunity, as had been stated, to appear before the Labour Representation Conftnittee before I was expelled,” said Mr Rosser in an interview.
“I was simply asked to forward reasons why I should not be expelled from the party. After fighting for 50 years in the Labour cause, which includes a long period before the actual formation of the party, I felt I should not be expected to sit down and write a lengthy recital in defence of my allegiance to the cause of the workers.”
The touring Now Zealand bowlers defeated Biggenden by 72 points to 65. Results were as follows: —Dee, 32-22; Weatherburn, 12-30; Adess, 28-13. There was no play in the match against Isis owing to rain.
