The Work of The Guide Dogs

“Gcod Angels in Harness,” a novel written by Frank C. Emmott and Marjorie Charnwood (Hodder and Stoughton), tells of the work of the guide dogs trained to lead the blind. These magnificent Alsatian dogs become almost human in their work, and are the real friends of their owners. But primarily this is a novel, a good romantic story of how a blind girl met and fell in love with the hero. It is tcld by the girl herself and typed on her own braille typewriter. Her purpose is to give a good story and to interest the reader in these wonderful dogs which are the seeing eyes of the blind. ,

“Dangerous Promise,” by Ramsay Bell (Hodder and Stoughton) is a gripping story. The plot concerns Pclronella (Peter) Blake whose fiance has obtained money by false methods and is appealing to her for help as he is being pursued by his ex-colleagues for their share of his gains. The hook is commended to those who like a modern mystery story.

George Goodchild. in his latest murder mystery. “McLean Secs It Through” (Hodder and Stoughton) cleverly outlines the stages of investigation conducted by Inspector McLean and Sergeant Brooks. Raymond Dcsanquet, who was murdered, was a well-known zoologist. He was so absorbed in the study of fish that Ins second wife and two sons were denied everything except the hare necessities of life.
