Detectives Investigating Share Sales
[Special to “Northern Advocaie”l AUCKLAND, This Day. Directed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr D. J. Cummings, in response to a request from the Australian police, detectives in New Zealand have been making inquiries concerning the affairs of the Scottish Loan and Finance Company, Ltd, of Sydney. This company, which was formed towards the end of February, 1931, when it took over a company of a similar name, went into liquidation in May last. New Zealanders bought nearly £40,000 preference and ordinary shares, one Auckland businessman paying £IO.OOO cash for preference shares, and a Dunedin man £SOOO for ordinary shares. A prospectus was brought to the Dominion towards the end of November last year, and the majority of the shares were sold in the Auckland Province, though some were sold in Taranaki, Christchurch and Dunedin.
