Kaitaia v. Kaikohe: High School Sport

[Special to “Northern Advocate”'] KAIKOHE, This Day. In a spectacular Rugby game, played at the Kaikohe Recreation Reserve on Saturday, Kaikohe High School defeated a aKitaia High School fifteen by; 18 points to 11. The pace was fast, and both teams weife applauded for fine movements. H. Pou, of Kaikohe, was outstanding, and P. Smith and J. Donnelly proved themselves to be towers of strength. Costaine was the most impressive player in the Kaitaia fifteen, and was responsible for some fine defence. BASKETBALL. Two basketball matches were played between the schools. The A grade match resulted in a draw, both teams having obtained 15 goals. The game was evenly contested throughout, the interval score being 8-all. In the B grade, the Kaitaia girls were victorious by the narrow margin of 11 goals to 10.

Woman’s Body on Bf^ch.—No further development has taken place in the police inquiry into the discovery of a woman’s body on the Taratuhi Beach, two miles north of the Public Works camp at Claverly, from which Mrs Harriet Jane Patience disappeared on October 4 last year. Mr Patience was asked by the police to view the body, but could not identify it owing to the decomposition of the features.
