“Whangarei Has Best Rowing Course In Province”

—MR. R. H. ALLAN A suggestion that the executive should make representations to the Auckland Rowing Council to have an Auckland provincial championship rowed at Whangarei was made by Mr R. H .Allan, speaking on Saturday night at the prize-giving of the Whangarei Rowing Club. The Port Whangarei rowing course, Mr Allan said, was free from side eddies and was practically dead-water, giving a straight course for over two miles. It was the best course in the Auckland Province, he said. The course had drawn favourable comment from Mr C. G. Herdman, an official of the A.R.A., when he .visited Whangarei recently. “I would recommend that the executive make representations to have a provincial, if not a Now Zealand, championship rowed here,” Mr Allan said.
