Miss V. Hirons' Coming-Of-Age
The Marble Bar reception rooms presented a pretty picture on Monday evening on the occasion of the coming-of-age of Miss Vera Hirons. Multicoloured streamers, palms and arum lilies completed the decorations. Mrs Hirons received her guests in a frock of burgundy satin-backed crepe, with lace yoke and sleeves, and a velvet coatee to tone. Miss IJirons wore a charming frock of stiffened ice blue lace relieved with cyclamen.
The tables, which had been beautifully arranged, were gay with seasonable flowers. Pride of place was given the birthday cake, made by Mrs Hirons and iced by Miss E. Cooke. Tiny gold boats denoted the place of guests at the table.
Mr R. M. Salmon was M.C. and Mrs Print pianist. Games and dancing combined to make a happy evening, while cards and monopoly were also
provided. Miss Hfrons was the recipient of many beautiful gifts, and in a neat speech thanked all her friends and \ her parents for making the evening one that she would long remember. Musical honours were accorded her.
