Roadworthy Certificates
Roadworthiness certificates will be required in New South Wales when application is made for annual renewal of licence. The scheme takes effect in August. The cost of each examination, as defined in the regulation, will be a nominal charge of 2/6. A similar plan is proposed for Victoria, but it has not received official approval, the authorities apparently believing that such a system would only tend to create a false sense of security. Their attitude is that there would be no guarantee that a vehicle passed as mechanically sound one day would, under certain conditions, be roadworthy a few weeks later. Legal responsibility rests on all motor owners to see that their vehicles are in a safe driving condition all the year round.
