“Illegal Traffic”

“The greatest film discovery since Clark Gable!” That’s the way Hollywood has been referring to handsome Robert Preston, Paramount’s new star and leading man of the crime drama, “Illegal Traffic.” A devotee of the drama from the beginning, Preston played the role of Julius Caesar in Mrs Tyrone Power’s famous stock company at the age of fifteen! From this he went on to the Pasadena Community Playhouse, springboard of such celebrated stars as Randolph Scott, Douglass Montgomery and Robert Young. His popularity with visitors from Hollywood resulted in a screen test and a Paramount contract. His first screen role was his first hit—the recent “King of Alcatraz,” in which he was teamed opposite Gail Patrick. In “Illegal Traffic,” Preston will be seen as a young G-man who, singlehanded, smashes a nationwide “getaway” racket.
