Must Wail For Minister’s Return
-MR L. REYNOLDS “We cannot expect any information as to the amount of the new season’s guaranteed price until the Minister of Marketing, Hon. W. Nash, returns from abroad, said the chairman of the Maungat.apere Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd.. Mr L. Reynolds, at the annual meeting of shareholder- yesterday.
Mr Reynolds said that at the Dominion Conference of the National Dairy Association at Wellington in April the Minister had slated that if the industry would accept the stabilisation of the guaranteed price at the same figure as last year. 14.8 Gd, he would endeavour to stabilise costs.
The conference, however, had turned this suggestion down, and asked that the price be fixed at the figure of slightly more than 15d which had been recommended by the advisory committee for the past season, plus additional costs, and the New Zealand Dairy Board was adopting the same attitude. The Minister had intimated that this would not bo acceptable to the Government, but nothing definite would be known until his return from England.
