Mrs Middleton, accompanied by Mrs J;ms„ has left for Auckland on an extended holiday. Mr and Mrs Clarke, of “Wattle Grove.” are spending the week-end in Auckland. Miss Daphne Kerr has returned from a holiday spent at Hamilton and Facial a. Mr M. Fitness has returned from a visit to his parents at Paerata. On Thursday afternoon, a surprise party, organised by the Otaika Women's Guild, farewelled Mrs. Middleton at her home, prior to her departure on an extended holiday. Several intriguing competitions were arranged. A pianoforte item by Mrs Dyer and songs by Mrs Pcolman, senr., wore very much enjoyed. After a dainty .afternoon tea had been served, Mrs Poolman spoke a few appropriate words of farewell, and presented Mrs Middleton with a fountain pen. Mrs Middleton responded. After the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” the party dispersed.
