Slow Work At Ellerslie Today
Late Sporting
[Special to “Northern Advocate”] AUCKLAND,.This Day. There was very little fast work at Ellerslie this morning, when No. 3 grass track, on which the poles were out about eight feet, was available. The two-year-old and the sand tracks were also open, the latter being in most demand. Waitarma strode over three furlongs in 42 seconds. This mare has done well since the autumn. Bisquit and Beverley were in front of High Quality at the conclusion of a five furlong run in 1.9 3-5. Beverley has come on a good deal during the last month. Every Port and Royal Message were under restraint throughout five furlongs, which took 1.10, the first two taking 27 seconds. Imporator, Miss Appellant and Loyal Grant were bunched at the end of half a mile, which occupied 54 1-5 seconds. It was a useful effort, as they went from almost a standing start. Sebrof did strong work over a round, being speeded up over the last three furlongs, which he covered in 40 4-5 seconds. Thrust ran the last three furlongs of her work on the sand in 43 1-5 seconds. On the two-year-old track, Golden Bonnet. Red Warden and Stratford sprinted a furlong, moving nicely. Later, they covered a similar distance in 14 2-5 seconds. THE TIENTSIN CONFERENCE. Mr Chamberlain, speaking in the House of Commons, said Britain would not, and should not, reverse its Far Eastern policy at the demand of another Power. Britain had, not received such a demand from japan.
