Kentucky Mining Disaster

NEW YORK, July 15. Twenty-eight miners who are entombed in a coal mine at Providence, Kentucky, as the result <?f a terrific explosion, are thought by the rescue workers to be dead. The rescuers have toiled for 40 hours to reach the scene of the explosion. So far 19 bodies have been recovered. Rescue efforts are being continued.

The force of the explosion wrecked motor equipment and tossed a twoton locomotive 200 feet.
