“Place Where Problem Is,’ Prime Minister Says
C From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, This Day. In an interview today, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, gave an indication that the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, has nut, yet completed his negotiations in London. “J. do not think Mr Nash will leave for New Zealand today,” said the Prime Minister. “I have received no word of his departure, but if he does not catch the steamer today he will probably be in England for some time yet.”
“I was emphatic that he should remain there until finality had been reached.
“Mr Nash naturally feels that he has obligations here, and that he should return, but I told him straight that his place was in England as long as the. problem was there.” Mr Savage said that in the event of Mr Nash remaining in London, ho would present the Budget himself.
