Rangiahua Has Five Consecutive Defaults
Five successive disappointments have been the lot of the Rangiahua Rugby team in the North Hokianga competitions. On Saturday it was Pawarenga who failed to turn up. Maraeroa defaulted to Broadwood. In the only senior game played Waiwaka surprisingly defeated Motukaraka. who could only assemble 14 men, 17—3. Superior weight on a heavy ground carried Waiwaka to victory.
Williams Goes Well. Williams, in the front row, was the best forward on the field. Tomene (full-back) was faultless on defence, while Matthews also gave good service. High tackling persists in Hokianga, although not so noticeable on Saturday. Motukaraka sadly lacked their star half-back, Spahhake. Holland, Beazley and Pearson- were best for Motukaraka. The game between Motukaraka and Rangiahua should be most interesting as only one point separates these teams. Junior Matches. Pawarenga juniors beat Mangamuka s—o5 —0 in a closely contested match, Pawarenga handled better, • but the forward work was evenly divided. The only try came from a nicely executed dummy. Using their superior weight to advantage, Waiwaka juniors defeated Broajdwood 12—0. Waiwaka has a lead of four points over Mangamuka, late starters in the competition, who have an additional game to play.
