[Special to “Northern Advocate’?] DARGAVILLE, Saturday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., had a moderate yarding at the Mangawhare sale. The stock in many instances showed the effect of the winter, while dairy heifers, small and low conditioned, were dull of sale. Dairy cows, close to profit, made from £7 to £7 15/-; others, £5 15/- to £6 10/4; backward and inferior, £4. 2/6 to £4 15/-; aged, unsound and low conditioned, £2 5/- to £2 15/-; Jerseys and Jerseycross heifers, nearing profit, £7 to £7 12/6; medium quality, £6 5/- to £6 15/-; others, £5 to £5 15/-; small and backward, £4 2/6 to £4 15/-; small and inferior, £3 5/-. on Sunday, when a fishing boat capsized in the surf, were recovered on the beach near the scene of the tragedy.
A London message says that Lawrence Wright, music publisher and composer, paid £20,000 for the right to exhibit Epstein’s “Adam" at Blackpool for three months. The identity of the Australian purchaser is still unrevealed. The sale price is reported to be £7OOO.
