Addition To Borough Building By-Laws
An addition to building by-laws, ! covering the employment of registered i architects or engineers, is contem- ! plated by the Whangarei Borough ! Council. j At last night’s meeting, it was de- | cided, on the recommendation of the j Legal and Finance Committee, to instruct the borough solicitor to bring down the new clause on the following lines. — “Any person engaged in the erection. or causing the erection of a building and/or structure where the estimated cost exceeds £2OOO shall employ a registered architect or engineer. properly qualified, provided that the building inspector may authorise the proposed construction without requiring a registered architect or engineer when in his estimation such special supervision is not necessary. “The building inspector may designate any building .and/or structure as requii’ing a registered architect or engineer when deemed necessary or where there is a complicated design or where new materials or methods of i construction are intended to be used,”
