Out And About In The North
Kohukohu Afternoon to Miss Andrewes, At the residence of Mrs E. Woods a pleasant afternoon was spent when Mesdames E. Woods, E. R. Farrell and R. Searle acted as hostesses for a gift afternoon extended to Miss Durelle Andrewes, in honour of.her approaching marriage. Competitions proved very interesting. Mrs Woods asked the guest of the day to accept the gifts from her numerous friends as tokens of best wishes for the future. Miss Andrewes, replying, thanked all for their kindness in arranging the afternoon, and also for their good wishes, which she greatly appreciated. The hostesses served a delightful afternoon tea. Omahuta Messrs M. and R. Crallan have returned from a short holiday spent at Te PUke. Mr and Mrs J. V. Chapman have left for Whangarei, where they will in future reside. | Mr and Mrs N. J. Dougherty, who have been visiting Mrs John Templeton, have returned to Taumarunui. Umawera Mr and Mrs F. Jones and family and Mr and Mrs Brown and family have returned to Umawera after a stay in Auckland. Mr T. Simpson has been visiting Mrs Templeton, senr., at Pukahu Estate.
Marua Mr and Mrs F. McDonald and Miss I. McDonald are in Wellington, where Mr McDonald attended the Dairy Conference. Mrs L. Low has returned home after spending several weeks in Auckland. Mrs L. Mclnnes and Miss L. Mclnnes are spending a holiday in Rotorua. Mr and Mrs A. Day returned home on Friday after a very enjoyable holiday. After spending a few days in Whangarei, Mrs McPhee is home again. Mr and Mrs McDougall left on Thursday for Wanganui, where they are spending a short holiday. Mr W. Wesley is improving and hopes to be home from hospital very shortly. Mrs F. Hawkins is staying with her mother, convalescing after being in hospital. The dance held in the Marua hall last Wednesday to celebrate the wedding of Miss Sands and Mr A. Brown was one of the brightest held in the hall. The music was supplied by Cunningham’s orchestra, and everything went with a swing from the start. Mr and Mrs Brown received numerous presents. Their future home is to be in Marua. Friends of Mr Jack Hutchings will be pleased to note that he has quite' recovered from his indisposition caused by a fall.
