Mr. G. S. Robinson, supervisor of Show Exhibits by the Department of Agriculture, who has been visiting Whangarei in connection with the display at the Winter Exhibition last week, left for Wellington by the; express yesterday morning. Miss Sheila Lyons, eldest daughter of Dame Enid Lyons and the late Mr Lyons has joined the staff of Australian National Airways in Melbourne. She is attached to the Publicity Department. In her new duties she will be associated with the “selling” of air travel to the women of Australia.

The superintendent engineer-gen-eral of the Post and Telegraph Department, Mr E. H. Lawn, who was directly associated with the introduction of the automatic telephone switching system into New Zealand, and has since directed and supervised the installation of all exchanges at the principal centres throughout the Dominion, has retired from the service on superannuation.
