A Backblocker Paid For
Pataua and Pakaraka to the Fore Now for Our First £IOO Umrah’ We’ve passed the £BO mark! As a matter of fact we’ve passed the £9O mark, but I.can’t tell you that definitely because the Matahourua Kapu’s - how c tali receipts have not been cheeked yet. But without them, our earnings this week were over £lO. It’s been a splendid week! Biggest thrill will be for the Backblockers. Through the unselfish wor c ci the Conaghau brothers a cheque for £5 6/- was received for them. Use story of just how that large sum— sufficient to send one Backblock bov or girl to the Exhibition—was made, is told elsewhere. ‘ Rut this we say now: Best thanks to William, Norman, Douglas and gamuci who have matte U possible for one lonely Northlander to! accompany the Kune Club expedition to the Centennial. 'I here’s a big thrill, too, for Palana. Activities there have earned another 16/.. it was hard work, but, carried out with typical Pataua enthusiasm, It wa « great fun. Muriel Douglas helped the fund along considerably by the sale of sweets- which she made. Pakaraka, too. is not letting the grass grow under its feet. Another £2 2/6 arrived this week. It’s not long since Kupe was there, and Pakaraka * fund simply wasn’t. Bui now Pakaraka has enough to send one representative to the Exhibition. Somebody said that when Pakaiaka ge behind a scheme it knows how to work. To-day’s contribution supplies the proof, if nroof were needed. The fund grows, my followers. How soon now before we reach the hundred mark? Best thanks for the following contributions: £ s d
