Funeral of Sir Thomas Wilford

I* An eloquent tribute to the late Sir Thomas Wilford was paid at St. James’ iChurch, Lower Hutt, on Saturday morning, by a large and representative congregation, which included five feabinet. Ministers,' three Judges, including the Chief Justice, Sis Michael Myers, representatives of legal, banking and commercial circles, and representatives of the Wellington City Wellington Harbour Board, and numerous local bodies and organisations with which Sir Thomas was identified.

The Rev. H! E. K. Fry said Sir

Thomas had given years in the service of God, King and country, and in his passing the Church had lost a faithful member, the Empire had lost a faithful and devoted servant, the country had lost a prominent leader, and they themselves had lost a true friend. The remains were cremated at the Wellington Cemetery.

Farmer Drowned, —A farmer, Mr Thomas Old, aged 63, of Pukengahu, near Stratford, was found drowned in a drum of pig food. He appeared to have slipped and fallen head first into the water and molasses which he was mixing. Mr Old had intended to give up farming next week and live at Morrinsville.
