Portland Juniors Beat Kensington

With the majority of players visiting Auckland to witness the interprovincial trial between Northland and Taranaki, only one game was staged by the Northland Rugby League on Saturday. This was at Jubilee Park, between Kensington and Portland Juniors, resulting in favour of Portland by 16 points to nil. Play throughout was of a fast nature, the forwards of both sides combining with the backs to keep proceedings in the open.

Kensington especially were throwing the ball about 'all day, but Portland rearguard, with the support of their forwards had the combination and polish to r finish off their movements.

One try each was scored by Beesley, Conlan, Bristow and McLean, who also converted one. with a field goal by Babe.

For Portland, McLean, McCarroll and Bristow in the backs, and Pink and Conlan in the forwards, made

most of the going, while of the Ken-f sington team, Cassidy and Taylor in; the backs, and Ballantyne and Hay-, ward in the forwards, were the most outstanding. Mr J. Hill was referee.
