The Otaki-Maori Racing Club’s winter meeting was held on Saturday. The totalisator handled £17,142 10/-. Results:— Taipua Handicap, of 200 sovs.; seven furlongs.—(7-7) Yours Truly, 8.8, 1; (2-5) Saki, 8.2, 2; (8-8) Sporting Gift, 8.7, 3. All started. A head; four lengths. Time: 1.31 3-5. Waikanae Scurry, of 80 sovs.; five furlongs. Second Division: (3-1) Classform,' 8.0, 1; (5-5) Peach King, 8.7, 2; (1-2) Wings of Song, 8.0, 3. Scr.: Kaiwaka, White Foam. Two lengths; a neck. Time: 1.4 3-5.
Ohau Handicap, of 120 sovs.; one mile and 55 yards.—(lo-10) Larwood, 8.2, 1; (11-11) Girl Pat, 8.0, 2; (1-1) Colonel Bogey, 8.2, 3. Scr.; Happy Heels, Aux'ora’s Star, Maturity, Cuddler, Royal Show. A head; three lengths. Time: 1.52.
Should Improve. The three-year-old Silver Quex has been turned out for a spell for two months. Although she galloped brilliantly on the track, this full-sister to Round Up failed to race up to expectations in her latest s k .arts. It is hoped that she will become more solid with age.
