Delude Of Entries For Winter Show
“We are deluged with entries,” said Mr C. P. Butler, secretary of the Whangarei A. and P. Society, when spoken to this morning. With the Winter Show opening next Tuesday, the exhibition hall and grounds are a scene of the greatest activity. Everything points to a record entry, although the final figures will not be available until tabulations are completed by an augmented staff late this afternoon. Phenomenal Increase.
Farm and garden exhibits are known to be up 300 per cent., a real surprise considering the dryness of the season.
Every inch of the 37,000 square feet of room, only 20,000 feet of which are in permanent buildings, has been I booked.
The Director-General of Agriculture, Mr A. H. Cockayne, has signified his intention of attending the shew if possible, while the Superintendent of the Pig Industry, Mr M. J. Scott, will arrive on Tuesday.
