Russo-Japanese Clash
(Received 11.0 a.m.) TOKIO, June 23
A communique from Hsingking states that a severe clash occurred between Russians and Japanese on the Manchukuo border.
Eighteen Japanese aeroplanes went aloft, and brought down 49 of 150 Russian aeroplanes which had crossed the border. Five Japanese machines crashed.
The communique adds that over a dozen Soviet machines had repeatedly crossed the frontier since Monday, bombing various centres in Manchukuo. Protests were ignored. The Manchukuo Government has protested against Russo-Mongolian aerial activities.
