CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

One man was killed .and two others severely injured when their car ran off a one-way bridge over the Blue Duck River. 12 miles north of Kaikoura at 3.30 o’clock on Saturday evening. The victims were: Killed.

Mr William Thomson, aged 40. of Aniseed. near Kaikoura; fractured skull.

Injured

Mr William McDonald, aged about 30,

of Aniseed; severe facial injuries. Mr William Arthur, aged about 33, of Aniseed; severe facial injuries.

There were no witnesses of the accident, but a Public Works employee living near the bridge heard the car pass, and later a loud crash as it left the bridge. On arrival at the scene it was found that Mr Thompson was dead .and the ether men badly injured. The approach to the Blue Duck Bridge is only nine feet wide and has no sides.
