[GREATEST UPSET OF THE SEASON IN WHANG ARE! RUGBY ■ -CIRCLES WAS THE DEFEAT ON SATURDAY OF THE HITHERTO UNBEATEN CITY TEAM BY OLD BOYS WHO HAD BEEN .TRAILING THE FOOT OF THE LADDER, WITH OUT A WIN TO THEIR CREDIT. Rarely has finer cohesive forward work been witnessed at Kensington Park than that produced by the light Old Boys players throughout the second half. Leading 9—3 at the interval. City conceded nine points in the second spell without adding to their score, or. in fact ever looking like so doing. Deadly tackling robbed the first half of incident, but when the Old Boys packmen got the bit between their teeth the crowd was moved to a high pitch of excitement. Out at Maungakaramea the home team made a great battle in the second half .against Hikurangi, after being 11 points down in the first spell. Hikurangi eased off to some extent after the interval, but spent most of the spell in its own 25. Lack of finish, however.'spelt the end for Maungakaramea, the final score being 14 to 7 in Hikur.angi’s favour. With no wind and a springy turf conditions were again ideal for football.
