N.Z. Attracts Australian Boot Operatives

(Received 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day

There has been an exodus of members of the Australian Boot Employees’ Union to New Zealand, where the rates of pay and conditions of employment are there attractive, according to a statement by Mr J. Maloney, secretary of the union. He added that each week, men, boys and girls with a knowledge of the industry, were leaving for New Zealand, whence their fare was paid, and where they were guaranteed continuity of employment* a 40-hour week, and wages that were as much as £1 higher than those in Australia.
