Rand wick Winter Plate Won By Gold Pan
(Received 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. June 12. The Australian. Jockey Club’s winter meeting was concluded at Randwic* yesterday. Results: — Second Hurdles, of 400 sovs.; about two miles. —Lockslea. 9.4. 1; Winning Post, 9.12, 2; Jack Mac, 9.11. 3. Ten started. Two lengths; three-quarters of a length. Time: 3.41 L Winter Plate, of 650 sovs.; one mile and five furlongs.—Gold Pan, 7.3, 1; Vestal, 7.8. 2; Will Rogers, 8.2, 3. Eleven started. A head; three lengths. Loombination Was Unlucky. Three solid performances were credited to Loombination at the recent Auckland meeting, and he was a shade unlucky to meet, an improver of the type of Ellanui. only for which he might have won the three hack hurdle races at the meeting. Besides being able to act well in heavy going, Loombination is a sound stayer likely to win in much better company, even though he lacks the robustness of many hurdlers. A race like the Winter Hurdles at Trentham or the Grand National Hurdles might, not be beyond Loombination, who is giving Illumination a further advertisement as a sire of jumpers.
