Queen Longing To Visit N.Z. Again
(Received 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 11
The King and Queen, during their tour of the World’s Fair yesterday afternoon, visited the New Zealand pavilion, where 75 New Zealanders had gathered. The visit brought back recollections of Their Majesties’ tour of the Dominion in 1926, as Duke and Duchess of York, and the Queen said she was longing to visit New Zealand again. Their Majesties stopped at the diorama of Milford Sound, and the Queen observed how sorry she was that illness had caused the cancellation of her South Island tour.
Their Majesties displayed marked interest in the Maori exhibits, and the Queen referred appreciatively to her visit to Rotorua. They commented on the spaciousness of the pavilion. At Australian Pavilion, When Their Majesties visited the Austrailan pavilion, the Queen told Mrs L. R. MacGregor, wife of the Australian Commissioner to the World’s Fair, how pleased she was that the Duke and Duchess of Kent were going to Australia. She said the Duke and Duchess were looking forward to their visit very much. The King also mentioned his brother’s impending term as Gov-ernor-General to Mr F. W. Bulcock.
